Alice Njau

For 14 years of adulthood, Alice Njau (at left) dreamed of receiving a university education. A lack of financial means was her biggest obstacle to receiving one. In August 2016, through divine provision, Alice began schooling. During Alice’s time at ANU and because of generous university donors, Alice participated in the Peer Mentorship board, the Knowledge Ambassadors Club, and was the founding chairperson of the student-led scholarship program, ANU Student Organization Scholarship Initiative (ASOSI). In 2018, because of Alice’s involvement across campus, and her excellence in academics, she received the Barney Servant Leadership Award. Alice said about her time at ANU, “I have gained more than academic excellence, becoming a transformative leader in my community. I look forward to scaling new frontiers of service as I continue with my God-given assignments.”

Germaine Odhiambo

When star basketball player Germaine Odhiambo, ‘18, (at right) graduated from Africa Nazarene University, he didn’t just have a degree—he had a passion. Because of an athletic scholarship, Germaine spent the preceding four years bringing the ANU basketball team to victory, including being a national titleholder for the Kenya University Sports Association.

Today, Germaine runs several community programs that help safeguard young people from crime and drug abuse. As part of this, he spends hours on the basketball court with the kids—teaching them the game and instilling godly wisdom. Germaine has mentored over 100 Kenyan youth, helping five secure sports scholarships to various universities.

Amos Chege

Amos Chege, ANU graduate ‘20, (at left) is a conservationist who lives his dreams of protecting the 32,000 Maasai giraffes in the Tsavo-Mkomazi region of southern Kenya. His work makes him the perfect person to work with ANU’s Department of ENRM as industry advisor, facilitating a series of educational workshops and webinars in conservation and natural resource management for students. But his journey to this point has been challenging. As a high school student, Amos dreamed about ANU but was uncertain if he could afford the tuition costs. In 2016, Amos began schooling at ANU with a specialized payment plan. Later, he received financial scholarships. Neither of these options would have been available to him if not for the funds received by generous donors of ANU.
